The most notable upgrade to Iron Grip’s urethane line is the dumbbell’s new patented handle design. The new handle offers a sturdy 1-3/8 inch diameter, with flared shoulders that widen to a heavy-duty 1-¾ inch diameter at each end. The extra-wide ends not only contribute to improved strength and durability, but they also create a defined gripping area in the center of the handle. The handle’s unique ergonomic shape helps the user to position his grip correctly in the middle of the handle, making the dumbbell safer and more comfortable to use. As in prior models, the new dumbbell handle is press-fit into precisely machined solid steel heads and then welded to create a single solid piece, resulting in the most durable dumbbell available.
In addition, both the Olympic plates and dumbbells now offer a uniquely textured urethane coating. The textured surface has been designed to better resist scuffing and scratching, so it will show less wear over time. The textured urethane will retain a ”like-new” appearance even longer than the prior model, which previously set the standard for longevity.
