Iron Grip Barbell Company Supports St. Jude Hospital's "Target House"

December 31, 2002 - Orange County, CA - Iron Grip Barbell Company recently donated Iron Grip Urethane free weight equipment to outfit a newly constructed fitness center in Target House, a housing facility for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital patients and their families. St. Jude, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is the nation's largest center for children undergoing treatment for pediatric cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Iron Grip was invited to participate in the fitness center project through Life Time Fitness, who also donated equipment.

The construction of the new fitness center, co-sponsored by Olympic medallist Scott Hamilton, is part of large-scale, 78,760-square-foot addition to the facility. As part of Target House's overall goal to provide a comfortable "home-away-from-home" for the families of patients at St. Jude's, the fitness center will be a place for families to revitalize both physically and emotionally. The center even includes both child-scaled and full-scaled equipment for all members of the family.

Originally opened in May of 1999 and funded by Target Stores and its retail partners, Target House was designed to be a temporary residence for long-term St. Jude patients and their families from across the nation. The recently completed expansion has added 46 additional apartment suites as well as communal areas including a living room, dining room, family activity area, and a private kitchen. Additional recreational facilities include a relaxation spa and yoga room; the Tiger Woods Performance Pavilion; and the Scott Hamilton Arts and Crafts Room.
