Iron Grip Introduces Redesigned Urethane Free Weight Line

Orange County, CA — September 8, 2010 — Iron Grip Barbell Company, the leader in commercial free weight equipment worldwide, has recently upgraded their premium line of urethane dumbbells and Olympic plates to improve durability, functionality, longevity and appearance.

The most notable upgrade to Iron Grip's urethane line is the dumbbell's new patented handle design. The new handle offers a sturdy 1-3/8 inch diameter, with flared shoulders that widen to a heavy-duty 1-¾ inch diameter at each end. The extra-wide ends not only contribute to improved strength and durability, but they also create a defined gripping area in the center of the handle. The handle's unique ergonomic shape helps the user to position his grip correctly in the middle of the handle, making the dumbbell safer and more comfortable to use. As in prior models, the new dumbbell handle is press-fit into precisely machined solid steel heads and then welded to create a single solid piece, resulting in the most durable dumbbell available.

In addition, both the Olympic plates and dumbbells now offer a uniquely textured urethane coating. The textured surface has been designed to better resist scuffing and scratching, so it will show less wear over time. The textured urethane will retain a ''like-new'' appearance even longer than the prior model, which previously set the standard for longevity. As always, Iron Grip makes its proprietary urethane formula exclusively in America to ensure quality and consistency.

Even with the many improvements in design and durability, there have been no price increases on Iron Grip's updated Urethane Dumbbells and Olympic Plates. ''As always, we have worked hard to constantly streamline our manufacturing process,'' says Donna McCallum, vice president of sales for Iron Grip. ''Creating new efficiencies allows us to incorporate product upgrades like these with as little impact to overall cost as possible.''

Customers who are interested in upgrading to the newest Iron Grip urethane dumbbells and plates may want to take advantage of Iron Grip's recently introduced Buyback Program. The Buyback Program allows facilities the opportunity to return their old Iron Grip urethane dumbbells and weight plates in exchange for a credit towards the purchase of brand new Iron Grip equipment. Free weights are typically found throughout most clubs, and are seen by the majority of members and prospective members on club tours. Because of this, upgrading free weights is one of the most cost effective and significant renovations that any facility can make.
