Iron Grip Completes Major Factory Expansion
Nation's Only Domestic Free Weight Manufacturer Employs State-of-the-Art Manufacturing Technology for California Production Facility

SANTA ANA, Calif., July 24, 2006 — At a time when all other barbell manufacturers are cutting costs by moving manufacturing overseas, industry leader Iron Grip Barbell Company is bucking that trend and improving quality, durability and efficiency by expanding its U.S. manufacturing operations.

The company recently completed the third phase of its multi-year expansion plan, which now totals more than 43,000 square feet of manufacturing, warehouse and office space in Santa Ana, Calif. The new facility, designed by Iron Grip, features more than $1.5 million in sophisticated manufacturing equipment and includes a wide array of highly automated equipment, designed to improve quality, speed products to market and reduce reliance on outside suppliers.

"Our state-of-the-art facility is unlike any other free weight manufacturing facility in the world," said Michael Rojas, co-founder and president of the company. "Overseas manufacturing processes typically depend largely on manual, labor-intensive techniques, and on equipment that often hasn't changed in decades. This can result in quality, accuracy and consistency issues."

Rojas continued, "By expanding our use of automated manufacturing equipment and developing proprietary production processes based on that manufacturing model, we are doing what no other company in this field is doing, and our company—and our customers—are realizing the many benefits of this type of production."

The new facility features fully automated computer-controlled lathes and saws and a sophisticated, custom-designed microprocessor-controlled gas metal arc welder. The expansion also includes additions and improvements to the company's proprietary urethane operation, including its customization arm, which now operates a large array of computer-controlled engravers.

Iron Grip's extensive customization capabilities further differentiate it from other free weight companies. The company is the leading provider of private label equipment, offering richly detailed and permanent customization on its primary line of American-made urethane dumbbells and weight plates. This capability is used by many Fortune 500 companies, the U.S. military, major hotels and resorts, and some of the largest health club companies in the world.

Iron Grip has a history of repeatedly reinventing the industry, which began in 1993 when the company introduced a weight plate with hand grips and a unique, 12-sided, anti-roll design. It was the first major innovation in free weights in nearly a century. Iron Grip has since followed that breakthrough with other significant advances including private labeling, and durable urethane-encased plates that won't damage floors, walls, or equipment.
